Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment gives an increase in the linearity of a given stat.
Players can recycle six items at a time to get a gauge of the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats on your armor and weapons. This can be achieved through a number of means such as the use of upgrade components and also upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to increase their value.
You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available all over the world as well as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The most common method of upgrading equipment is by making use of upgrade components which are items that can be slotted into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and most require a certain level of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer a general bonus.
There are many types of upgrade components that are available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, can be put on any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing additional crafting materials.
Select the item in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats after the upgrade. If you do not have enough of either, the Upgrade button will show as Blocked.
The upper-right side of the screen shows the number of upgrade components required for an item. The cost of an upgrade increases as the level and rarity of the item increases. However you can cut down on the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a seller or trading them with other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded using a prefix upgrade like an insignia or rune, and many can be upgraded with suffix upgrades. These upgrades include an adjective in the name of the item for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are an effective tool to communicate visual information. They move to grab the viewer's eye and stimulate curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, making them more effective in conveying the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also enhance the likelihood of remembering a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by certain amount. This is displayed on the item, when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This range is not the exact amount at which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum value by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier as well as the quality of the item you are enchanting.
The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you do not want to use, but it's not been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you wish to remove the glyph from an item you must salvage it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed that it was installed in, but you can recover the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards so this should not be considered a loss.
The addition of a glyph to an item may cause it to become unstable and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you dismantle the item. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. For instance the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly rather than all at once. This is useful for players who take lots of damage from their enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes of equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from various sources, including mysterious boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player an unspecified affix, which is generally better than the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be a good way to reroll weapon stats, which can be upgraded to increase damage or additional perks.
Rerolled items don't appear in the menu of item upgrades, but they can still be upgraded. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button that alters the layout of the item window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its level gauge. item upgrader is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, which means higher-level items are more valuable to recycle than lower level ones.
In addition to tokens for rerolls players can also make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. A reroll will roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait; if it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolling is an excellent option to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware that the total ilvl is reduced by the number rerolls it took to get it to the final ilvl. This effect is most evident on rings and Diadems, since they have no other options to increase the ilvl.
Some players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's more fair to let people pay for it using money or food items that would allow them to make changes to their builds without spending too much time. The developers aren't planning to implement paid rerolls at this stage of the game's development. They're planning to include the ability for players to change their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are a variety of ways to increase the level of an upgrade for an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the value of upgrading a given stat. The second option is to boost the impact of the upgrade, which increases the healing or damage for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. When this is done, the new item will keep its iLevel but it will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded type of item.
When upgrading items It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However, there are times when a more or unique roll can occur. In addition the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the item type which means that if you upgrade a rare or unique item to an extraordinary type, it could achieve an iLevel that is higher.
Upgrading item upgrader can be costly, particularly when you're upgrading an item of gear from the normal to legendary track. The cost will depend on the item's iLevel base and the amount of upgrade levels it offers. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests to reach the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky your upgraded item will be at the highest level of its upgrade track and unlock an additional bonus effect. This will provide a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect can change with each upgrade level though. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by a value of +3.
Depending on the item's level of base and upgrade route, the iLevel of the upgraded item will also change. For instance, an item that is upgraded from being a rare or unique item to an outstanding one can be expected to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
